Opis
The story begins with the house Harry lives in, along with his uncle, aunt and their son whom they favor. The title character himself lives in a small room under the stairs and is treated as an enemy, not part of the family.Letters are coming to the house, which uncle and his aunt are hiding very quickly, although they were addressed to Harry. When they can finally cope with the pressure of the letters, they move to a faraway place where no one can find them. All this so that Harry does not find out that he is a wizard. One day, however, a giant bursts into the gates of their new home and takes the boy on his eleventh birthday to show him a world he never expected to see.
Historia zaczyna się od domu, w którym mieszka Harry wraz z wujkiem, ciotką i ich synem, którego faworyzują. Sam tytułowy bohater mieszka w małym pokoiku pod schodami i jest traktowany jak wróg, a nie część rodziny.
Do domu zaczynają przychodzić listy, które wuj z ciotką bardzo szybko ukrywają, choć były zaadresowane do Harry’ego. Kiedy wreszcie nie mogą już sobie poradzić z naporem listów, przenoszą się do odległego miejsca, gdzie nikt ich nie znajdzie. Wszystko to po to, aby Harry nie dowiedział się, że jest czarodziejem. Pewnego dnia do wrót ich nowego domu wpada jednak gigant, który zabiera chłopca w jego jedenaste urodziny, aby pokazać mu świat, którego nigdy nie spodziewał się zobaczyć.
